Staff Development

For personal staff development: At Indian Creek, I participated in spirit dress up days, weekly 'this or that' polls in the teacher's lounge, making a happy birthday video for a special needs student, and more. At Taft, I have also participated in spirit dress-up days, and all of the music staff eat lunch together in the band room daily.

For professional staff development: At Indian Creek, I attended their week of professional development training before classes began. This included an active shooter training (ALICE), fire drill training, cell phone policy training, expectations for staff, and more. At Taft, I have been able to participate in bus safety drills.

  1. I loved hearing about the spirit days that happened at Indian Creek. I am eager to see if my placement has any spirit days coming up as I think it would be fun to participate in. There are a lot of drills that you have been able to see. These drills are so good to know when going into any school.

  2. That's nice that the music staff eats together every day! It's nice to have a moment to sit down and talk about your day with others who are in the same field as you.

  3. The special teachers are so very important in collaborating with all school events and professional development. Always seek ways you are able to support the learning of students or their behavior goals teachers might have for them. School wide professional development is a great way to show the teachers you are part of their team.
