Surprises

 I was surprised with how much I enjoyed teaching elementary music! Going into student teaching, I was focused on middle school, but I think I may have changed my mind. I still have my middle school placement to experience middle school band, but elementary will be tough to beat.

    I love that you enjoyed elementary music! I have been wanting to do high school band and have been very focused on that, but we'll see if my elementary placement changes my mind :)

    I can relate to focusing on one specific grade and being surprised with how much enjoyment I have gotten out of the one I was more nervous about. What is a big change you have noticed from the first placement to the current one that kind of still has you stuck on the first placement?

    That is what is fun about student teaching and getting into the classroom for a number of weeks. it is important to keep learning how to be the best you can be and reflect about the strategies that work for you.

 I do not have much of a "wellness plan". I work all day at school, come back to campus and work in the cafeteria, then I work on lesson plans until I am too tired to write something coherent. I work every day except for Sunday, when I clean up around my apartment and work on more lesson plans. If only student teaching didn't cost $30,000 :)

My Love For Teaching What inspired you to be a teacher? I was inspired to be a teacher by my high school music director. The environment that she create in her classroom was inviting, and watching her teach made me realize that I wanted to teach as well.  My Story What legacy do you hope to leave as an educator?  I hope to be an inspiration to my own students, just like my music director was for me. Throughout my time as an educator, I want to show my students how to appreciate music and how to pass that appreciation on to others. My Mindset What actions and mindset will be needed during the unique setting of the 2025 school year? I believe that I will need to be patient, open-minded, and dedicated in order to succeed this year. There will be situations that I am unprepared for, and I will constantly be trying new things. I need to be patient with myself, open-minded with my surroundings, and dedicated to my learning.
